Anniversary of the 635th Tank Destroyer Battalion at Omaha Beach

June 6th commemorates the anniversary the Normandy Landings in World War Two. The Kansas National Guard was represented in the initial landings when the 635th Tank Destroyer Battalion landed on Omaha Beach on June 6th. The 635th immediately began operations supporting units attempting to breakout from the beachhead and spent the rest of the war providing direct support to multiple corps and divisions advancing through France and Belgium and into Germany.
