Berlin Crisis: HHD, 496th Ordnance Group

Headquarters & Headquarters Detachment, 496th Ordnance Group, Topeka, was mobilized on October 15, 1961 in response to the Berlin Crisis. The unit served at Fort Riley, Kansas, providing command and control of various ordnance and maintenance units until released from active duty in August, 1962. The unit was commanded by COL Clarence Weller during the mobilization. The Command Sergeant Major was MSG Jesse E. Marcellus.
