Korean War: 127th Fighter Squadron

The 127th Fighter Squadron, Kansas Air National Guard, McConnell AFB, Wichita, was mobilized at the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950. Flying the F-84 fighter, the unit went to Alexandria, VA, becoming part of the 137th Fighter-Bomber Wing. In May 1952, as part of that wing, it went to Chaumont, France, to strengthen NATO fighter forces. Two months later the 127th returned home after having trained new jet fighter pilots and supplying individuals to the Korean air war.
